August Recap
Hey, all! I don’t know about you, but August has been an extremely busy month for me. From getting married (again), to picking up a few extra shifts, to walking in Omaha Fashion Week. It feels like I’ve had zero time to myself. I’m looking forward to taking some much needed ‘me time’ this coming month, but first let’s take a little look back at what I did in August!
What I’ve Been Up To

I Got Married (again)!
Last year, my husband and I eloped at the courthouse with our immediate family. We had a little afterparty to celebrate at my sister-in-law’s home, but we weren’t able to invite our extended family or out of state friends since it was so last minute. This month we had a vow renewal ceremony and cocktail reception so that we could celebrate with all of our loved ones (and so I could have my walking down the aisle moment)!
Andrew Hoyt Music Merch
Andrew Hoyt is a local singer/songwriter, and I had the opportunity to model for his upcoming merch this past month! He’s dropping new merchandise that will be available for purchase in the near future including candles, keychains, pens, and t-shirts. You better believe that I’ll be snagging a t-shirt and candle! Check out his website here!

Omaha Fashion Week Fall 2023 Aurora Season
OFW is the 4th largest fashion week in the United States, and this year was my first time walking in it! I always dreamed of walking on a runway when I was younger, but never thought that I would have the chance because of my height (5’5” problems). Luckily, OFW is an extremely inclusive event and I had the privilege of walking all three nights! It was such a fun experience getting my hair and makeup done and modeling different looks in front of so many people. I met so many talented designers, models, hair and makeup artists, and I hope to walk again in the upcoming season. Learn more about Omaha Fashion Week here!
Things I’m Loving
Clothing: Levi’s 501 Mid-Rise Jean Shorts
I have gotten soooo many compliments whenever I wear my 501 jean shorts. They’re not too short and not too long; they’re the perfect mid-length for a 25 year old struggling to put together outfits that are cute and trendy, but aren’t too revealing or too modest (no problem if you love Daisy Dukes or Bermudas, I just like a happy medium). I love pairing them with a pair of sneakers, a basic top, a blazer, and small sunglasses for a casual but put together look.
Book: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
I read this series when I was in high school and was absolutely obsessed with it. I’ve been in a reading slump for around a year, and I thought that the best way to get out of it was to reread a book that I already love. Uglies is a sci-fi dystopian about a society that was created and centers around being ‘pretty’. Basically, you are considered an ‘Ugly’ until you have a cosmetic procedure when you turn 16 to become a ‘Pretty’. The book follows Tally Youngblood, an Ugly that has been denied turning pretty unless she helps find her missing friend.
Watching: Futurama
When I was a kid I remember flipping through TV channels and accidentally landing on Adult Swim. Futurama was a show that I would often catch glimpses of and I thought it was horrible (keep in mind that I was a child and didn’t understand adult humor). My husband and I started watching it this month and I have been pleasantly surprised! Futurama came out in 1999 (two years after I was born), so you would think that the pop culture/political commentary would be dated, but it’s surprisingly still very relevant (and hilarious).
Skincare: CosRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
This product has been such a game change in my skincare routine this month! I use it as my first step after cleansing (in place of my toner) to add hydration and target dark spots. The texture is a bit gooey/sticky at first (it’s snail secretion so what do you expect?), but once it’s applied it spreads nicely over the skin and doesn’t leave a tacky residue on your face. It’s gentle enough for my eczema, acne-prone skin and effective enough to help reduce the appearance of my many acne scars. Keep in mind that some people have reported allergic reactions to this product (as for every product), so make sure you do a patch test prior to going all in!
Beverage: Cherry Slush Alani Nu Energy Drink
While it’s not something that I mention often, I’m a full-time nanny to an adorable 6 month old (and occasionally the sweetest 3 year old when she doesn’t have school)! I generally nanny from 8am to 3:30pm and will often rush home to get ready for a shoot at 6pm. With that being said, it’s important that I feel energized (I don’t want to look drained in my photos). This past month I’ve been gravitating towards Alani Nu’s Cherry Slush energy drink when I need a quick pick me up. I’m a sucker for a good cherry Icee from the movie theater, and this is as close as you can get to the real thing with 0g of sugar.
September Mood Board
In the month of September I really want to focus on slowing down and taking more time out of each day to genuinely care for myself. This past month has felt like a whirlwind and I can feel that my body and mind are taking a toll. Just like the upcoming fall season, I want to begin slowing down and preparing myself for the upcoming winter season. I want to focus on intentionally moving my body through yoga and barre class, stimulating my mind through reading and journaling, and caring for my body through skincare and nourishing food.
Well, that’s a wrap for my August recap, y’all! I hope you enjoyed reading about some of my recent work, my favorites for the month, and some of the intentions that I’ll be setting for the month of September. Be on the lookout for my next blogpost detailing my experience at Omaha Fashion Week!
Until next time,
